I have started removing a Majestic fireplace insert that has been in our house for 15 years. This one protrudes into the living room and takes up too much space. I have removed the drywall and framing but I don't know how to remove the Insert. It extends up thru the 2nd floor. From the ceiling side there is a plate where the flue piping goes thru the floor. I started to cut the pipe just inside the floor joists but stopped. I figured there must be a simpler way . The drawings I have of my house doesn't show the fireplace construction.I would appreciate any information you have on removing this thing.
