I think if you dug and refilled the ditch yourself, you could save considerably. However, you must get the pricing quotes from contractors, not from me. If a contractor quotes you both jobs the same, then you won't save any money with them. I would get three quotes and additionally, find out from suppliers how much the materials cost.
