Well, you have to get access to the wood to repair/replace it. Either go through the siding - whatever that is - or through the drywall or plaster inside. If floor joists over that very minimal crawl space need to be replaced, you will have to tear into the floor.
Sounds major to me no matter how you slice it. Sorry.
Think you need to find a competent carpenter. And float a loan!
