Hello! I really need some advices for the following problem. I just bought a house which is build right in the middle of a huge rock (the whole house completly sits on it). Because of this rock, my basement is in slope from 2 feet of ciment blocks in the front to 6 feet in the back. In the front of the house, I have a ciment pathway of about 3 feet wide and then someone build a small retaining wall of about 1 foot high on top of the rock that run the whole length of the house. Any water that fall on the rock runs in between the rock and the ciment and end up in the basement and I am afraid it will damage the foundation with time. I would like to know if there is a way to stop the water from coming in. Do you think that if I had a ciment ditch in front of the house that would be lower than the ciment blocks of the foundation, it would be enough to help carry the water away from the house and stop it from going between the rock and the ciment blocks of the foundation. Should that ditch be lower that the frost line since I leave in Quebec, Canada. Is there any other method to contol the water in such a case. Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my e-mail.
