Retaining wall Posted by Suz on July 29th, 2003 09:11 AM
I am building a retaining wall in my yard. I am planning to use 4X4 or 6X6 posts with concrete, angled inward for added support. I am building up about 3 to 4 feet and filling the hole with dirt/top soil. I have about a 100 foot length, maybe twice as long, but lowering in height, depending if a neighbor wants to go in on the project. Do I need to support the wall with braces to hold it up if I put posts every 6 to 8 feet, and approximately 3 to 4 feet into the gound, or will the posts alone be strong enough to hold the weight. I was thinking about tying in putting braces into the ground, and reenforcing them with rebar, cemented into the ground? I just don't know if this will be strong enough? Thanks for any assistance that you could provide. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
