Barring the unexpected (which should always be expected) I don't see significant problems with your idea. Keep a way from footer and support piers or consult with a soils / structural engineer. Sounds like a lot of work to move about 20 yards of material. Be sure to think through how you will move and dispose of all your mine tailings. Check utility and sewer locations for your plan before starting.
