I am planning to install ceramic tiles 6x12 around my fireplace, it will be 6" wide. I am concerened whether I need to place a hardi board first or can I tile directly over the dry wall. I guess what I want to know is that can the dry wall support the weight of those 6x12 tiles, they will be about 10 of them making it a 9 sq ft area.
