I like the both boards for their characteristics. I usually look at the old one because people seem to use it more. You need to combine the two boards like this. Messages should be categorized based on their subject/content. Each message could have multiple categories. You should be able to choose a view based on a single category or all by date. The all by date is key. If I'm looking for a particular answer I can go into the category view but if I'm just browsing I'd like to go by date.
