Baseboard heating

Posted by Henry in MI on August 2nd, 2003 06:15 AM

On a TOH show from 1989 where they were remodeling Mary Van's B&B, Richard Tretheuy put in a Stadler boiler and ran PEX tubing to baseboard heaters. The system looked great but I wondered how the tubing would hold up. It did look like PEX but it may have been something else. It was used for runs to the baseboards and for connecting the baseboard units together. This included making some pretty tight 90 degree radiuses at room corners.

Does anyone know or can they make an educated guess how a system like this is holding up? This would seem to be a lot easier and cheaper to retro than underfloor radiant heat, but is it lasting?
