lots of ways to tell but acid washing 50/50 mix will work. and thenbrush and hose off but the best way is to use a surface retarder. lay the concrete mix ( pea gravel mixed in already}.
float off edge and install joints spray on retarder cover with plastic {visgueen} let set overnite and power wash the next day using a wide spray and a lite touch and the retarder will keep the surface from setting hard ,talk to a constuction supplyer for details can be pricey but really works.
