dryer vent

Posted by DC on August 3rd, 2003 09:08 PM

My dryer vent pipe seems to be clogged (have checked out dryer to be ok). Vent pipe makes approx 5-6 90 degree turns, from what I can guestimate, from an interior laundry room to outside wall. Vent pipe goes down into foundation, then horizontal about five feet, then back up wall exiting the outside wall. One method I tried to unclog vent was to fire up the gas powered leaf blower to blow the lint back the direction it came. It didn't work. What concerns me is that I could here gurgling sounds coming from in the vent pipe as the blower blew air. That means water is somehow in the pipe. I am considering re-routing vent to exit vertically through the roof which will be about a 14' climb. Other option is professionally clean, but if water has corroded the pipe from outside in, it will surely clog again soon, right? Please offer comments, suggestions, do's, don't's, pros, cons to this situation. HELP!
