Tell him to wear respiritory protection and protect any children from exposure. Keep the project wet and bag it for proper disposal. Dont take any chances with asbestos. If you even suspect there is asbestos, contain the area you are working in and wear tyvek suit and keep all asbestos fibres in containment untill cleaned up. Dont track the fibers all over the house via clothing, hair, etc..
