I've got one about a foot across under my deck with hundreds of wasps coming and going all day. It is easily reachable from the ground or the deck and I've sprayed at night, but the spray just soaks into the layes of "paper" surrounding the actual nest. Plus, the opening is built as a hanging tube serving as an "air lock" to keep the spray out of the nest as well.
It looks like I'll have to knock it down or punch holes in it to get the spray inside, both of which seem risky.
