We had our electrical wired and last weekend had 5/8 drywall hung (not yet mudded). I have noticed that the plug recepticles seem to be recessed too far back. What I am thinking, is that the electrician made the assumption that we were going to have 1/2 in drywall hung and set the recepticles at a depth appropriate for 1/2 inch drywall not 5/8. I am concerned that the plugs will be recessed beyond the recepticle covers!?!? Especially if we do tile the backsplash. My husband thinks that either a) we just use longer screws on the recepticles or b) the metal edge of the actual plug will rest against the drywall with the use of longer screws, and it should be fine. Any suggestions??? I want the job done right, as it is something that we waited 10 years to do. Does the drywall need to come down and the recepticles reset at a new depth to accomadate 5/8 drywall????
