I believe , like Nancy said, repairing is not an option. Most laminates are like plastic, and easily and permanently damaged by excessive heat.

Since it is in a bathroom, the price to replace the counter top is not that bad since it the surface area is much smaller than, say, a kitchen. It also may be a standard size and not require custom ordering.
