The house was built in 1986, and the exterior seems in good shape. There is are several soft spots on seams that got wet. I have seen reports on the internet about class action lawsuits and a settlement for homes with "masonite". If this home is made of it, why is some of it in good shape? Are the some types of masonite that have worked well as siding? Will the house last with this stuff? Am I entitled to having it replaced even though it appears fine now?
