Painting over wall paper can it be done will it look tacky

I live in a mobile Home and they have the same color wallpaper in all the bathrooms and the same color wall paper in the kitchen thats in the bathrooms.I cant stand it.It is a flower print and you can only use blue and white colors for things to look right and basically those are the only two colors you can use Im sick of the floral pattern can enybody help thanks
