Everyone seems to think that steaming is the way to bend wood. The problem is finding something that will serve as a steamer. I bent a 3/4" piece of hard maple to be used as a back foo a rocking chair. All I did was boil it. The proble here was finding a pan big enough to fit the piece of wood. I just took two aluminum foil pans, cut off an end on each, and taped them together (on the inside) and set it over two burners on the stove. The water in the pan stopped the tape from melting. It served the purpose and the wood bent pretty well. I jury rigged a wood bending thing with clamps and pegs.
