burnt food smell in micrwave

I put a bagel in the microwave and put setting too high and burnt the bagel in the microwave and now everytime we use the microwave the smell is really quite strong,we washed out the inside with mild soap put baking soda in there but this does not remove the smell.
is there any thing short of purchasing a new microwave that I can do the remove this lingering smell.
