Stucco Repairing of Small Cracks

Our home is brand new (5 months)and is in Palm Springs area (desert). We have numerous stucco cracks (hairline) as well as bare metal edges where stucco didn't adhere. Builder is taking care of latter by spray painting. We're told cracks can't be repaired and this is our retirement home . . . . we're afraid major problems will occur down the road. Thanks for any help. Repairman will be around again in a few days.
