woodstove finish

We have a very old woodstove. The bottom and one inside wall rusted out so we took it for repair. The man decided to repaint it so it would look nice. Whatever paint he used cannot withstand the heat and it is becoming unsightly. What should we do? When we called him, he didn't know what to get or where to get it. This is in central oregon.
