I am buiding a new home in a builder subdivision. The cabinets are supposed to be natural oak but they look like scrap wood. There are at least 4 different colors, including blond, red, pink, and yellow. It appears as though they used a different wood or stain on every door and drawer. The bases are veneer and don't match anything at all. Is there a way to strip these and make them work or will I have to resort to painting? I'm afraid staining won't work since the starting wood doesn't match. You can see the cabinets on my website, www.carolynshaven.com. The builder thus far has done nothing and the cabinet shop owner claims this is what natural oak looks like.
