Our house has electric heat and is insulated well. The insert worked well, once you get it fired up you can reduce the draft controls but it takes a while before the heat disapates, hence the open doors. We enjoyed it, but my wife has tired of the mess and carrying wood in each night, so I just installed a nat. gas insert.
