Does anyone know what the maximum distance a header made of two 2x10's (southern pine) can span? This is an interior load bearing wall that carries the load from the 2nd floor to the 1st. My builder has spanned a 12' opening between the kitchen and family room using a pair of 2x10's for a header and I'm concerned that he should have used an LVL beam. Thanks in advance! BE
