Hi Kay. I can't give you product name, but went to my new paint store locally (small shop) asking the same question for my kitchen table. He assured me this "primer" applied (after washing the top in TSP), allowed to dry, then repainted with an enamel of some kind is very doable and works well. He said the new products are designed for this. The TSP, the primer, and the enamel were not very expensive either. I'm gonna try it soon. I have better luck with smaller stores where the owners seem to be up on the latest technology, vs. a dept store clerk. Good luck.
Niki
