It's difficult to say without seeing your floor. Most hardwood floors are restorable. The problem is that your wood is probably as big now as it is going to be. The high amount of humidity in summer means that your wood is larger than in the winter. When you go into winter, the heating system lowers the amount of moisture and wood contracts. So, without seeing your floor or getting measurements of the gaps, plus knowing where in the world you are, it is very difficult to say anything definative for you.
