I did some research online, and it was suggested that sunlight or activated charcoal might help, but the preferred solution is to lightly sand the interior of the chest with 0000 sandpaper and then vacuum the dust out. Cedar oil spray can then be used, but don't overdo, or it could stain what comes in contact with it.
