Thanks for your reply. I am not used to this forum--I sometimes can't get back to the right place in the process. I don't have the exact measurements but I couldn't put up a new door. This door leads into a room under the extended kitchen. The room was made to stop the wind from making the kitchen get so cold. When you open that door, it opens only so far as the ground (cement) is raised and the door can't go any further. So it's kind of an awkward thing. It's just really ugly now and sanding is not an option as the wood is frayed like fibers just tearing off the front in big chunks. That's why I thought I could just cover it up. CC
