Can you use premade concrete "stepping stones"? These are available at a home center and are usually 2" thick. They come in various sizes.
Suggestion: set these pillars back from the edge of the driveway, for a couple reasons. For one, you want clearance for a truck, like a moving van or a delivery truck. Personally, I get claustrophobic when driving through something like that with my work van.
