brick repair and renovation Posted by samantha brady on August 28th, 2003 08:48 AM In reply to Brick Home repair by Phil on July 31st, 2003 08:30 AM [Go to top of thread]
Hello, my name is samantha and my husband and i are in the process of purchasing a home. now both of us have renovation and some building experience, but this home is unique and in poor shape. in order to get the type of home that we want we had to get something that was in dire need of repair. The home is actually an old school house built in 1777 and is over 16,000 square feet, it is all brick and has been vacant for the past 40 years. it has a lot of potential and actually very solid. the foundation, steel beam ceiling structure, and brick is in very good shape how ever the brick walls are rough and seem to need filling in the cracks type work, I would like to know any advice you would have about fixing this problem, treating and maintaining the brick so that it has a long life, i would also like to know the process behind installing insulation and drywall over a brick interior. I appreciate your time and am looking forward to your reply thank you.
sincerely,
