help with mullions- need 2 1/4 coverage Posted by Terry F. on September 1st, 2003 12:23 PM
I need suggestions for capping a mullion stud between interior French doors and their sidelights. I framed the doors and sidelights (actually narrowed down doors themselves.) in standard door jamb. Since I did all of my shimming on the ouside of the entire unit, what I'm left to cap with mullion trim is 5/8 x 2 plus 1 1/4 (for the stud) on each side of the door frame between the two sidelights.
If such a thing exists, I've determined that a 2 1/4 mullion cap would be ideal to give me the right amout of reveal to match the ovolo door trim in the rest of the house. I haven't been able to find this anywhere near me.
Any ideas on where to find this millwork stock-- or will I have to custom make it? (I'd also have no idea or good tools needed to go about doing that). The trim will be painted when it's all said and done.
Or, other ideas about how to complete this job.
Thanks,
TF
