I need help. We have just had a ceramic tile floor laid in about 50% of our home. The subfloor is 5/8" with floor joist 16" OC. 1/2"hardiebacker board was used and mortared to subfloor, screwed every 8" and joints are mortared but not taped. The tile is 18" and was grouted in with Tec sanded grout ( Mortar used Mapei Ultra Contact ). Now only after 3-4 days crack in the grout and even a few tiles are cracked and loose. We have been told is was movement by the company even though they wont show us how they can to this conclusion. But another tile company told us more than likely is was because the hardiebacker board was not taped in the joints. There are alot of patterns 2 tile x 3 tile showing up. Which is more likely? I know this is a stretch not being able to see it but I need any direction I can in finding out what why this is happening
