We recently had a well dug and built a house. The water when they dug the well was clear and no real signs of rust. Now that we have the water connected to the house and after shocking it with chlorine as required to make it potable, there is a high content of rust. It seems to be the worst when the water sits in the pipes and is not used. In the morning, we get a horrible taste when we brush our teeth but it seems to clear up some by the end of the day. Our newplumbing fixtures are turning rusty and it's only been a week. I've considered that it's from the well casing corroding, since it's new copper piping, new bladder tank and new water heater. I was concerned that the chlorine may have cause it to corrode more since we had to shock the system twice to get it to pass. Is there any way to determine if the corrosion is coming from the well casing or the water source? What else might be causing this? What are all of my options for eliminating the rust in our water and their effectiveness?
