In reply to Rusty Well Water - The root Problem and Solutions? by Jim on September 4th, 2003 03:25 PM [Go to top of thread]

My neighbors aren't exactly close and the well depths are comparative. One neighbor has a well much deeper than mine, and has sulphur in the water. Another neighbor has a well a little shallower than mine and has great water with minimal hardness. When we were drilling the well, they let the water run for almost two days straight without running it dry and it appeared to be really clean and fresh water. Now that it's almost a year later, we have rusty water. I was thinking it was the casing, and if it is, what can be done about it?

Has anyone tried an annode bag like they use for burried propane tanks? The principle is that the magnesium in the annode bag would draw the ions which cause corrosion to it and preserve the steel propane tank (or well casing in this instance).

Thanks,
jim
