countertop

We're building a new countertop for our kitchen and need some help with the sub- structure. We have 2 layers of 3/4" plywood but aren't sure how far out the edge should be in relation to the base cabinets. We'll be tiling and then putting probably a wood edge on as the tile doesn't come with a bullnose. Also, any thoughts on how to apply the wood edging.
