Lightly sand the area and trowel on the drywall compound. You can either mix it yourself or get the pre-mixed kind.
You'll just have to mess with it to get it to look right, you could even lightly sand over the adjacent texturing so you can more easily feather the new compound so you can more easily hide the difference.
Then when dry, prime, paint and you're done. It should be fairly easy.
