Ceiling Texture

If it is one of the standard textures, you can get it as an aerosol spray that works great. Homax makes a latex version and an oil version. The oil version is billed as fast drying, but it is one holy mess to clean up. The latex version works just as well but takes longer to dry, and overspray cleans up with a damp sponge. If you don't like what you get, scrape it off right away and try again.
