You have a seat or cartridge mis-installed and hot water is bypassing thru when you turn on the cold water (garden) releiving pressure on that side so hot water comes on thru the mixer warming the flow out the hose. When I say "mixer" valve, that is common terminology for what you call a one handle. Re-check your installation and if not sure, get a schematic for your brand from the hardware store. Luck, Kizmet
