Hi Jeannette,

You are looking for problems, simply because moisture will destroy all your efforts over time. Given you want to cover your shower area, you will find that most paints will not stick to tile, even primers, unless you rough up the surface by sanding it. This is true with most primers, but to cover tile is critical. It will also insure you are removing all the potential soap and hard water deposits.

Your second problem would be with future moisture problems that will exist after you apply stucco. As you may have noticed, the joints where you grout your tiles are probably already an issue, as this is where mold, soap scum and bacteria will build since most do not seal grout joints.

Now imagine what it will be like with a stucco like finish? You will have a mass of buildup and it will be near impossible to clean without scrubbing, and this will eventually wear out yoru finish. Stucco even on walls in a bathroom will cause mildew, so imagine what you will have in a shower area? I would strongly suggest you consider other alternatives.

Good luck, Mike
