That's a good question, Eric. I don't want to paint mine; I just want to cover a butcher block formica with something else. I remember doing it back in the 70s as a first time homeowner (If I remember correctly, I replaced what we had with butcher block -- maybe I should wait a few years.). If I remember correctly, I used an adhesive, and you can buy sheets of laminate at Home Deport or Lowe's. Frankly, I wasn't that happy with the job I did, but that may have just been the impatience of youth. I do know this: you have to have the squared off countertops (which I do now) and not the rounded edges. I don't think there is anyway to do rounded edges without cutting them square. And what a mess that would be. But is your have the square edges, I suggest you do a Home Depot of Lowe's run investigate on your own. (Here in SC, most of the employees are part timers who may or may not know anything. Lots of times I'll ask them a question, they look at me as if I've lost my mind, then I ask it of another employee and find an answer.

If you hear of any way to do this other than my suggestion, please let me know.
