After working for Goodman mfg. for almost 8 years and also working in the field I can Honestly tell you this is not True.
Example one:
I have seen with my own eyes hundreds upon hundreds of Janitrol units roll off the assembly line with frost forming on the boxes.This comes from freon leaking from the units.
Example two:Coils are assembled next to the paint dept at both plants.This results in paint powder and soot and other contaminates falling inside the coils, thus resulting in compressor lock-ups and so on.The main thing we were told to focus on was appearance.
I could go on and on, but I will keep it short.
At one time you could ask just about any production line employee what the company slogan was and they would tell you "F@ck it,it ain't going in my house"
The warranty does not do you a lot af good if you have to pay for the labor your self.
No other "residential ac" company that I have been aware of uses bristol compressors.
There is a good reason for this, but I will be nice......:-}
You get what you pay for.
