A kitchen remodel is probably the most disruptive and expensive remodel you can do in a house. It is also something that is going to take a minimum of 6-months to complete from planning, purchase, order, construction, installation to finishing. If there is no clear way to finance this project, I encourage you not to undertake it at this time. I have great empathy for your situation and your desire to make mom happy, but this may not be the best time to turn the house and finances upside down.
Since time and finaces are limited, some alternative projects you can accomplish are painting and wallpaper, new floor materials, tiled backsplash, new sink, new appliances. Install a new window or skylight, etc. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
