next time you paint, interior or exterior, check into insulating paint. It comes as a powder-like additive, or pre-mixed, and consists of microscopic ceramic spheres that individually and collectively act like a thermos bottle on the surface, limiting the ability of heat, and to a lesser extent sound, to travel through the surface.
