I just built an outdoor Island BBQ:

1. 2 separate grills (one charcoal and one gas)

2. Surround Stonework

3. Top is granite for maintenance-free.

No need for any of those 1/2" backer board or Aluminum studs. My design is simple, yet elegant and maintenance-free.
