pilot light goes out after reaching desired temp.

Posted by nicholle on September 17th, 2003 06:46 AM

I have an old furnace and had to turn it on for the first time. The heat ran until it reached the right temp. and then it stopped as usual. Then it would not come back on so I checked the pilot which was out. I re-lit it and turned the heat on again. It ran and then the pilot went out again when it stopped. I have no trouble lighting the pilot and it stays on after I let go of the knob. It just goes outafter the furnace stops. Any suggestions?
