Yes, don't use masking tape! Seriously, I do a fair amount of painting and I seldom use masking tape. If you cut in with a decent brush - particularly an angle cut sash brush - and then roller, you should not need masking tape.
Second suggestion: if you do use masking tape, don't apply it to newly primed or painted surfaces; they should cure for several days first.
Third, when you pull off masking tape, pull parallel to the surface, either straight back or away from the painted area. If you pull it straight up, you are asking for trouble. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
