you start by whats the width of the building, if its 10' you devide in half 5' run a 6/12 pitch means it rises 6"every foot of run so the math formula is run x secant 6/12 pitch=1.1180=legth of rafter =67"1/16 email me if you have other ? use calculater 60" x 1.1180 =67.08 I,ve cut roofs for 10 years and im still learning things every day .read as much as you can a good book is roof framing by marshall gross.
