I am currently building a house and the builder gave us a choice of barriers between the OSB and the cedar siding. The first choice is to use something called "Red Rosin" (spelling). The other choice is Tyvek or Typar. Originaly our builder told us he did not trust these types of house wraps because they did not let enought moisture through the material and caused rot in the walls because of a build up of moisture. My question is, have products such as Tyvek and Typar improved their ability to pass moisture or should we stick with the old stand-by and use the "red rosin"?
