We need to store some lightweight stuff in one or both of the trussed areas over the house and the attached garage (not worried about exceeding the load capacity of the trusses, unless someone thinks we should be so worried). The house currently has blown in insulation to a level above the truss "joists"; the garage has no insulation. I'm about to lay 9 1/2" R-25 in the garage, but that would take it over the level of the truss "joists" and any plywood or other light flooring would therefore compress the insulation unacceptably. I don't really want to limit the insulation to 3 1/2" R-13 so as to accomodate the joist size, as I don't think that is enough R value for the garage ceiling. What to do, what to do? Anybody got ideas to maximize the R value in the garage and still get in a plywood or some type of platform to set lightweight things upon? Any ideas for the same type of platform in the house where the blown-in already rises above the "joists"?
