Craftsman garage door opener

My craftsman door opener all the sudden quit working. When you push either the wall or car opener buttons it makes a brief humming sound and does nothing, no chain moving, no nothing. No flashing as it does when something is interfering with the sensors. I did notice a green intermittenly flashing light on the rear of the motor housing. I've not noticed this before, but then again I don't look up there unless the darn thing isn't working properly. I bought this home with the opener already installed and I have no owners manual.
